Tom's restoration of Sony Walkman WM-FX407

This Walkman I bought quite recently non-functional from e-bay for a cheap price. I wanted one with Dolby noise reduction to be able to play some of my cassettes with Dolby. This was before I repaired my WM-B602, which also has Dolby. I had forgot I had the WM-B602, which was more seriously broken and uncertain if it would be worth fixing.


This unit was seriously dirty. Not only fiber dust but also sand! The belt was totally melted:
