Tom's Boat Repair 2016

There was this small rowing boat in a really really bad shape. It really would not make any sense to repair it - too much work and trouble compared to buying a new boat - so naturally I did repair it.

Patching one crack after another - and there were many...

Then applying topcoat for a nice finish.

The seats were hollow and did take in water through cracks and the vent holes. I cut them open and removed the wooden constructions and hardboard from inside. The wet rotten wood was quite heavy adding to the weight of the boat. Glad to get rid of it. I filled the seats with styrofoam and polyurethane foam, making the seats sturdy and waterproof while not adding much weight and providing floatation should the boat capsize.
